If you take an urban design course at San Francisco State (like someone on Garrett Leight’s team did), you’ll study Hayes Street as a model for how modern streets should be designed (something about mixing commercial, residential, and entertainment). GLCO carried that sentiment over to the ‘Hayes’ – a perfectly proportioned modern frame, universally flattering, and an assemblage of classic design elements.
